H.P.S.A.'s 15th Annual Heritage Days!

Heritage Days are always
a huge success with adults and children alike. It is a wonderful
opportunity for families to enjoy various outdoor activities in an
educational and safe setting.

The Opening Ceremony
starts at 9:00AM with the playing of our National Anthem,
Raising of the Flag (by Macomb County Young Marines), and a Salute to the men and women of our
Armed Forces.
|

|

Your enjoyment of Heritage Days starts at the gate, where you will be
assisted with parking and given a map of he grounds layout for the day
and a schedule of events. All kids will receive a free ticket to
our Youth Raffle, compliments of the NRA.
Admission and parking are both free, as are many of the events, with
some requiring the purchase of tickets. Plan on
starting early for a fun-filled day at Huron Pointe.

Fly Tying...
Trout Unlimited Volunteers show kids the fine art of tying a trout
fly, which tries to match insects to insects that the fish actually
eat... |

Fish
at the Trout Pond...
The Trout Pond has been a very popular stop during past
Heritage Days. Last year, children caught over 500
fish! Once you catch yours,
all the equipment you need to clean it is on hand. We'll even put your fish on ice for you to take home. For children 16 and
under.

Painting

their own animal or
fish print on a provided t-shirt.

Cresting Arrows...
Michigan Bowhunters volunteer and
show kids how to paint their own arrows...an archery tradition.

Historical Interpreters
Historical Interpreters of Michigan
will be on hand. This group focuses on the daily life activities of
Native Americans (during the 1700’s). They will be dressed in
native attire, and display their teepee, bow carvings, a hand drum
and much, much more. |

Animal Encounters
Animal
Encounters will be back with their exotic animal display. New for
this year will be a custom, unique Butterfly House – featuring
butterflies native to Michigan! |

shots (with a paint ball gun) at ducks and geese. This fun event is

 Shooting
Sports at Heritage Days
Safety and education go hand-in-hand.
Under the watchful eyes of Heritage
Days certified instructors, children and novices can learn how fun and
safe
the
shooting sports can be.
The featured
Shooting Sports are pellet gun, shotgun, .22 rifle, muzzleloader, and
archery.
Before taking part in any Shooting Sports activities,
participants will be required to view a brief safety video unless they already
possess a hunter's safety
card.

Pellet Gun...
Just one of the many shooting sports featured at
Heritage Days, shoot a pellet gun in a booth with
instructors assisting. Equipment will be supplied,
including eye and ear protection.

Shotgun...
Novices and children can "break a few clay birds" after
they learn how to safely handle a shotgun with one-on-one
professional instruction during this event. Shotguns,
including youth models, will be available for use. Eye
and ear protection are required and are provided.
...if you want to learn the game of trap, experienced trap
shooters will show you how! |

Muzzleloader...
Black powder is a primitive firearm used
by early pioneers such as Daniel Boone and Davey Crocket. Learn not
only how fun they are to shoot, but also learn how to load! |
3-D
Archery Course...
Called by many to be "one of the most unique
courses in the state", the 3-D course consists of
thirty 3-D targets depicting real-life nature scenarios
(and
some funny ones!)
This exciting course features
animals from all
over the world, including some
you may never have
seen on a course before!
This is one of Heritage Days' most popular events
and is for all ages to enjoy. |

Certified instructors will be on hand for beginners, both
young and old, on the practice field. Equipment is available or use your own. |
