Heritage Days: Help is
still required for Heritage Days, August 29. Teams E and F are both
scheduled to work that day, but additional help is required to help with people
(kids) shooting .22s (you do not have to be an RSO to help out here).
Wednesday Rifle Range:
We wish to open up on Wednesday until the deer firearms season. RSOs are
needed to fill in shifts. Please consider volunteering!
RSO Class: An RSO class
will be held right after Heritage Days. The exact date will be posted at
the August GMM. Advance registration will be required.
An updated roster will be out in
mid-August. Thank you for all that you do! Please contact Dave or
Frank if you are able to help!

Hunter's Safety will be co-using the range on
Saturday May 1. The range WILL NOT be closed and TEAM F is still
on-duty and will run the range. The following applies:
1. As of Noon, positions 1 thru 10 will be
cleared for Hunter Safety use. Please coordinate with event personnel as to
target set-up. This will require a longer initial cease-fire. Please be as
safe and efficient as possible.
2. Customers will be informed that we are
conducting an event and they need to be patient as we will have more routine
cease-fires than normal.
3. All standard RSOP policies and procedures
will remain in effect.
4. While there will be additional instructors
with the kids, the team leader for TEAM F will be in charge, just as on a
normal day.
5. RSOs need to be on their best behavior as
there will be young, impressional ears and minds in great quantity. Please
remind our customers as well. BE PROFESSIONAL!!
Let's make this another successful Club Event!

Popper Targets:
They are out of service for the season, covered up
and put away until spring.
A problem with the popper targets was investigated
on December 20. A duct-taped, cut air line was found after the tape let
go. That problem is now fixed. There was ice in the air system and the
reset arms were frozen to the mud.
The targets are now covered with a tarp with sheets
of treated plywood laid across the tops. Next year they should be dry and
level.

Rob Robinson discovered the attached target
backing while rebuilding targets. I count over 20 "keyholes" here. The
holes are around 270/7MM cal. Rob and I believe that someone fired one of
those calibers out of a 30 cal or larger. Why someone would do that is
beyond me, but it's another example of the need to watch our customers,
especially the ones who know everything there is to know about shooting or
"Have been shooting all my life". If they can do this, they can force a
round that is too big into a firearm that is too small.
